Take Home Wage Guide

About Take Home Wage

Take Home Wage is an independent UK site that does one thing: it shows what the minimum wage is and what it leaves you after Income Tax, National Insurance and a workplace pension. It is written and maintained by the Take Home Wage editorial team. We are not accountants, tax advisers or affiliated with any government department, and nothing on this site is personal financial advice.

The site exists because the hourly rate is the easy part. Most people searching for the minimum wage want to know the monthly number that actually reaches their bank account, and that depends on the Personal Allowance, National Insurance thresholds and the qualifying earnings band for auto-enrolment, which are published in three different places.

Every figure here comes from GOV.UK and nowhere else: National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates, Income Tax rates and Personal Allowances, and National Insurance rates and categories. We do not use forecasts, and we do not publish a proposed rate as if it were law.

Figures were last checked against those pages on 19 September 2026. They are re-checked whenever the rates change, which is 1 April for the minimum wage and 6 April for tax and National Insurance, and reviewed at the autumn Budget.

If you spot a figure that does not match the source, tell us. Email info@takehomewage.com with the page and the number, and we will check it against GOV.UK and correct it or explain the working.
